I just made my Yelp account and wanted to review Sushi Ai! This place has the best sushi I have tried so far (I am late to the sushi game, I didn't start eating any until just a couple of months ago)! I was visiting my daughter and she wanted to take me to Sushi Ai for the all you can eat special. The place was packed but we only waited a few minutes before being sat down. There was a lot of menu options so I asked our waiter Jason for any recommendations. He told me that California roll is good for anyone who is a bit nervous about trying sushi but his personal recommendations were the Crazy Spicy Crab roll and Volcano roll. He also told me about the available monthly specials which were both great as well. His recommendations did not let me down all the rolls he told me about were great! He was also very attentive even though I saw that he was quite busy with a few other tables. I will definitely come back next time I am visiting, both for the food and the amazing service!
More than anything, the affordability and great service from Sushi Ai makes it worth it. AYCE dinner was something around $24 per person and there were plenty of options to order from. It's quite packed despite the ample space, so there may be a wait (it wasn't more than 15 minutes for my group of 5 going out for Sunday dinner). I did the miso soup, house salad, Michigan roll, Boston roll, Jalapeno roll, and Crazy spicy crab roll. All of the rolls were solid (I'd definitely go for the same order again), but I didn't love that the pieces were cut so thick. I was full 2 rolls, a soup, and a salad in, but I felt like it was still a bang for my buck. Would recommend if you're looking for a casual AYCE sushi spot with straightforward rolls.
For the price and quality, this place is a good deal. I love the dinner combo and AYCE options - super affordable and allows the diner to experience a wide variety of options from the menu. Service is great and the ambiance is casual dining.
The server Mallory was great and attentive. I ordered the spicy tuna roll, another type of tuna roll with cream cheese on top and a roll with tempura on outside and crab inside. I also had delicious potstickers and yakitori chicken skewers as appetizers. Definitely order hot jasmine tea and add some lemon slices.
Went with a friend for the dinner $23.99 all you can eat sushi. It was a great deal that I will be coming back for. The all you can eat included appetizers, soup/salad, and numerous rolls. Each roll typically ranged from 4-6 pieces in roll which allows you to try a lot of different sushi before being full. We ordered a round of appetizers and two rounds of sushi, the waiting staff allows you to dine at your own pace which is nice. Our waitress consistently checked in on us and wondered if we needed more, while consistently clearing the table of completed dishes. The restaurant isn't very big so a line was starting outside of the restaurant as we were leaving (very small waiting area inside)--I presume peak dining hours can get pretty busy. Nothing fancy but a cozy ambiance: what you would typically expect for this type of restaurant.
Had a wonderful dining experience here! We came for all you can eat sushi. The inside was very nicely decorated with Asian decor. It's a bit of a small place but still cute and cozy. It's super easy to order- you just fill out a card with what you want and your server takes it. They had a ton of delicious sides that were included in the AYCE. We had potstickers, crab Rangoon, and fried oreo, all delicious. There were a few more options like ginger salad and miso soup. The lunch menu is smaller than the dinner menu, which has more specialty rolls, but for the price, I think it's very worth it with plenty of options to choose from. We had so much sushi it's hard to remember which rolls were which but here's a breakdown of a few I remember: Snow White roll- this one was a pleasant surprise! It's topped with what I think was a crab/cream cheese mixture but the mixture was sweet. I loved it. Sweet potato roll- I think this one is just sweet potato but there was something crunchy in there for added texture. Nothing special but good for a vegetarian option Fried St. Louis roll- good, but I'm not a huge fan of cream cheese so I can't say much A few people in our party didn't like sushi but they were still able to order from the regular menu, and got salmon/chicken teriyaki skillets, which came sizzling on a big skillet. Couldn't recommend this place enough!
Ordered delivery from Sushi Ai to ring in the new year and it did not disappoint. Ordering online is easy and simple. We loved everything we ordered. Apps:Tuna Pizza and Tempura Veggies We got two rolls: Under Control and Rainbow! Both were fresh and delicious. Nigiri: We ordered Spicy Scallop, Scallop, Eel and White Tuna.
I love this place so much. I went for lunch and dinner last week and have enjoyed the experience immensely. It's a StL classic for a reason! The choice between the combo deals and unlimited are great and, honestly, the combo deals are often the better deal. The unlimited is fun to take on with friends. Some of the rolls I felt were less fresh, so there were some real standouts. The jalapeño roll and Vegetable Tempura were so good! I find Vegetable Tempura is hit and miss at a lot of places because some don't cook the veggies enough or overcook them. After eating many orders, I can say Sushi AI makes them perfectly every time. For me, the Spicy Tuna Roll was a miss. The texture was extremely off putting. The crispy St. Louis Roll was great though. Like many other reviewers, I'm a bit dissatisfied that this location is next to a smoke shop. It's an unfortunate scent in a restaurant.
I really like coming here for AYCE sushi. Loved the variety of nigiri and appetizer. Lunch is $14.99 & dinner is $23.99. You can't beat that price anywhere else IMO. Although the fish aren't fresh, they taste better than most al la carte sushi restaurants in the Midwest. Service is really good. I can't remember who our server was. Stephen? We came in during busy hours, but he really took great care of us. Came by often to see if we needed anything else and was very attentive. I am giving this a place a four because the place is a bit dirty. The floor is sticky. The restaurant is dark. And you leave smelling like a smoke because it is next to a cigar store.
